There are places that, despite being right in the heart of the Costa del Sol, still retain a unique and authentic charm. Cabopino Marina is one of them — a hidden gem that many overlook, yet one that offers one of the most beautiful natural settings in Marbella.
A truly unique natural environment
Just a few steps from the marina lies the Artola Dunes Natural Area, a protected landscape where nature remains largely untouched. This stunning environment is home to a wide variety of wildlife and offers a completely different side of the Costa del Sol.
Among its most fascinating features is the presence of sea turtles, which, during certain times of the year, come to this area to nest and lay their eggs — a little-known natural phenomenon that makes Cabopino even more special.
Beaches for every taste (and a few surprises)
One of Cabopino’s greatest advantages is the diversity of its beaches. In this area, you will find:
- Fine sandy beaches, perfect for families
- Rocky seabeds, ideal for snorkeling and fishing
- Quiet, more natural beaches
- Naturist areas, for those seeking a different kind of experience
A small tip: it’s worth knowing where you’re heading before you arrive… especially to avoid any unexpected surprises if you’re visiting with family
A marina with character… and its challenges
Cabopino is well known among captains — and not necessarily for its easy access.
The marina entrance has shallow draft conditions, which require extra caution. Although the current concessionaire carries out regular dredging works, these efforts are often not enough for larger vessels.
- Boats over 8 meters → challenging access
- Sailing yachts → particularly difficult
For this reason, Cabopino is best suited for:
- Small motorboats
- Tenders
- Visitors anchoring nearby and coming ashore
And this is part of its charm: arriving by sea, anchoring nearby, and heading in to enjoy everything the area has to offer.
Gastronomy by the sea (with an Italian touch)
Despite its size, Cabopino offers a surprisingly rich culinary scene:
- Andy’s Beach: a long-standing beachfront classic, famous for its delicious paellas
- Albert’s: a more modern concept, known for its outstanding breakfasts
- Several Italian restaurants that will make you feel as if you’ve stepped into Sardinia or Sicily
A perfect plan: arrive by boat, enjoy a relaxed lunch by the sea, and head back out just in time for sunset.
A paradise for fishing enthusiasts
For fishing lovers, this area is simply exceptional.
The mix of sandy and rocky seabeds creates an ideal habitat for a wide variety of species:
- Sea bass
- Bream
- Groupers
- Tunas such as little tunny (bacoreta)
It’s no surprise that this is one of our favorite spots for fishing trips at La Romana Marbella.
A place worth rediscovering
Cabopino Marina is one of those places that doesn’t need to try too hard to impress. Nature, authenticity, great food, and the sea in its purest form.
Whether you visit by land or arrive by boat, it’s always worth the trip.
How long has it been since your last visit to Cabopino?
Maybe it’s time to come back… or to discover it for the first time.
